Choir prepares for winter concert
Lights, excitement and the sound of holiday music. It’s time for the annual Choir Holiday concert, rescheduled for Monday, Dec.18 at 7 p.m due to a snow day.
“It’s my favorite (concert). Our closer is “We Wish You a Merry Christmas and it’s so fun to do it with the choir,” sophomore Eagle Voices member Lilli Stivers said.
In addition to the rescheduled date, choir experienced other challenges in preparing for their concert. The class is split into two different blocks, due to size, so it’s a challenge for students to practice together; let alone fit on the stage.
“It is tricky when we try to figure out how they are going to stand on the stage during the concert,” Holt said. “I know they wish they had more time together to be able to do that, but I can’t be pulling them out of class forever.”
The choir practiced together three times before the concert and Holt ensures they maximize their shared time.
“It’s kind of weird at first, because we only practice with our choir and when you add a whole new class in it has a different sound,” Stivers said. “But it’s fun to sing all together, because it sounds more mature and like an actual choir and not just 20 kids.”
