From paint jobs to renewed structures, the school has some new improvements.
“I feel great. I’m re-energized. I’m excited about the school year and what’s to come,” principal Brandon Manzella said.
With the reigning in of the upcoming school year brings new things for both staff and students. Different topics both on the school level and the district level are changing. Some being done with a purpose, some with a more personal preference.
“We needed the updating. We were so far outdated in comparison to even other districts, but not even comparing other districts, just for what our standards need to be. Here at Eisenhower, we are one of the top achieving schools in the entire county. We are on top of the game with sports. We have the best vocal music, we have the best drama, we have the best band. You take a look at Eisenhower, we’re on top of our game, but our facilities were mediocre at best,” Manzella said.
Another development involves the athletics department. Near the beginning of last summer Swinehart, softball and soccer field were being redone and still currently are. The estimated time for completion is sometime in August 2026. These renovations include new structures and new turf being laid before they go back into use.
“We’re really looking at trying to make sure that we get our students out, even though it’s not our home field, our home games, we want them there. We want the same energy,” Manzella said.
There are also various things happening within the building as well. Several rooms have gotten painted, the lights and the stairs in the main gym have been replaced as well. For the class of ‘26, all senior activities will take place on the 26 of each month.
“I think the senior class is looking to be a part of starting new traditions and having fun together this year. I think they are really going to like the new activities,” student council advisor Amber Bronson said.
On the district level, two things have happened, such as the science curriculum change and the bell time being brought forward by five minutes. The science curriculum has changed in hopes of allowing kids to take advanced science classes in their junior and senior year. The five-minute cushion was added to aid the buses in between drop offs and pickups.
“I love the start of school,” Manzella said. “When everyone comes back, it’s really nice for me to be able to sit back and see everyone really come together.”
