With life-long entrepreneurship aspirations, senior Liliana Tannous turns her nail side hustle into a business.
“Ever since I was little, I always wanted my own business, so when I finally found something that sparked my interest, I decided to pursue it. I was sick of spending fifty dollars on my own nails, so I decided, why not give it a try on my own,” Tannous said.
Not only is she spending less and saving more, but she also gets to spend more time with friends when doing their nails. Tannous has had practice not only on her friends, but also her own nails to make sure her clients leave satisfied with the outcome.
“It is quality time, she always makes good conversation, and the outcome of my nails is always good,” junior Liliana Gegovic said.
Even though she gets quality time with friends, Tannous hopes to grow her business further than just her friends. By doing so, she advertises her business by having an Instagram account dedicated to the nails she has done. She also posts on snapchat to reach more viewers.
“Some pros are that I get to spend more time with friends that I don’t get to see all the time. Some cons are that it is hard to grow past my friends and doing just their nails,” she said.
Tannous likes to use the gel x style of doing nails. She has perfected her skills at doing french tip, square or just regular painted nails. Her mother has supported her along this business journey as she balances schoolwork and another job. She also expresses the positive outcome this job has had on Tannous along the way.
“I love that she turned it into a business for herself. I was concerned at first, so far, I think she’s done a great job of balancing school, her other job, and doing nails for close friends,” Tannous’s mother Rima Tannous said. “The best outcome of her business is watching her build more confidence, connecting with friends and chatting, getting to know one another better while doing nails.”
