Varsity softball and baseball kick of the season
Varsity Softball and Baseball kicked off their season on Monday, April 15th with some close games.
The girls put up a fight in their double header against Utica High School, losing both games. The first game lasted eight innings with a final score of 2 to 1. The second game lasted only seven innings with a close score of 6 to 5.
“Even though we lost, we had a huge comeback in the second game,” junior pitcher Johanna Zweng said. “We were losing six to one at the top of the 7th inning but we pulled through and scored four runs to finish up the game.”
The boys also had a close, nail biting game against Grosse Pointe South High School. The game lasted seven innings with a losing score of 3 to 1.
“Although we lost, the team played great,” sophomore catcher Steve Ciennik said. “I’m really looking forward to a great season, playing with all the seniors on the team.”
