Bursting with a sense of community, the Italian club begins with bringing Italians all together.
“It’s a really fun way to get to know other Italians in the area and be able to share memories and culture,” junior club vice president Gina Fedrigo said. “Being surrounded in that hemisphere is really fun.”
The club had their first meeting on Oct. 10 where they designed club t-shirts. Although the club is targeted towards Italians, anyone is allowed to join. There is an admission fee of $5 for the club. They work with other language clubs for events to bring together all cultures.
“I started the Italian club so I could spread my culture throughout the school and meet other people who share the same beliefs,” junior club president Alaina Leferman said.
Leferman was guided by the Spanish club adviser, Monica Klesko, to finalize the club. They have hopes of planning sports events throughout the language club department and host fundraisers to raise money to support the new club. An upcoming event includes a holiday cookie decorating function with the other language clubs while also decorating the language tree.
“My favorite part is seeing all the different people there,” Fedrigo said. “They’re there to share their culture and learn more about it.
