The girls’ varsity swim and dive team swim towards victory in the MAC Red conference.
“I feel like I did my best, and that I did pretty good this season.” senior team captain Izabella DeCardenas said.
The swimmers and divers headed to Grosse Pointe South Friday, Nov. 8 and Saturday, Nov. 9 to compete for the winning title of MAC Red champions. They are currently ranked second in the Macomb region with a mere 15.67-point difference from Dakota, who has a score of 460.72, and fourth in the MAC Red division, with a score of 445.05.
“All season, I feel like the girls have done a fabulous job of not missing their events, being where they need to be, and competing at a really high level. I think we really did that as a team at MAC Red,” varsity swim coach Lisa Doherty said.
The girls finished with a total score of 305, one point short of Dakota, who scored 306. They also earned a 75.8 in the National Interscholastic Swimming Coaches Association (NISCA), and placed fourth overall in the MAC Red.
“It was definitely hard,” sophomore Abigail Kelly said, “I told myself that it will all be over soon, and that if I just swam this, then I would be all good.”
