Students come together and bond over language while learning more about Spanish culture during meetings after school.
“I decided to join the board because I love Spanish class and all the kids in it. I also love planning events and pitching in ideas so I felt like this role [Vice President] would be perfect for me,” senior Vice President Valentina Mancini said.
The Spanish club meets at the beginning of each month, where they talk about upcoming events. Members of the club share their ideas for new activities like movie and game nights.
“This year we are making sure people get more involved than in past years so everyone feels like they have a part in the planning,” Mancini said.
Currently the club is planning for their Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) party and movie night. They recently had their Spanish club soccer tournament to encourage students to join the club as well.
“I joined the club because I wanted to get involved more as a senior and I have a lot of new ideas that I want to bring to the club. I love my Spanish class. I’m looking forward to the events and everything that we are going to pull together. Ms. Klesko and our board is very creative and we all work together well,” senior Secretary Ava Romano said.
Members on the board have evolved over recent years. They lead the other members of the club in planning and interactive parts of events, according to both the Secretary and one of the Vice Presidents.
“I enjoy being on the board, even though we only had one meeting,” Romano said. “I encourage underclassmen to join the Spanish Club and to get involved. You do not even have to be in a Spanish class to join the club.”
