The choir practices for their performance. “Making it a team effort to put this show on together and then we will use funds for both programs,” choir director Julia Holt said. After coming back from COVID-19, the two groups decided to join together for the first time for one big performance.

Choir and drama come ‘All together’ for their next performance; something which has not been done before.

“The choir  and drama coming together is more than just a performance,” senior Ella Julian said.

The choir performs on Saturday, Nov. 13, in the Performing Arts Center (PAC)  at Eisenhower.  It is a special performance the Musical Theatre International (MTI) is letting the choir perform for free, which means the choir didn’t pay for the music rights in order to benefit from this concert. This is also a fundraiser to raise money for the Choir and drama departments. Due to Covid-19 the department lost a whole year of funding.

“It was a really tough time for all of us, we didn’t get any kind of funds and we are trying to rebuild our choir foundation,” choir director Julia Holt said.

These songs are a random collection of music taken from different periods and styles. Some of the songs include ‘Be our guest’ from Beauty and the Beast, ‘You Can’t Stop the Beat’ from Hairspray Musical and ‘All in this Together’ from High School Musical.

Some students are also doing solos for the performance. Julian is singing ‘She used to be mine’ from the Waitress Musical.

“I did this song because I did this my first year of choir,” Julian said. “I felt like it was a good way to end the year.”
