The “Fast and Furious” franchise is characterized with a focus on cars, particularly race cars or sports cars; “Hobbs & Shaw” is different in that sense.
With petty humor and hilarious one-liners, David Leitch’s “Hobbs & Shaw” is a new wave that created a different outlook on the world of “Fast and Furious.” This movie features a technologically advanced society where the main goal is to stop a pathogen from being released. This pathogen is said to turn one’s insides into liquid, according to the movie.
The baddie of this movie, Brixton Lore (Idris Elba), wishes to get his hands on this pathogen to eliminate the weak. Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) and Deckard Shaw (Jason Statham), long time enemies, set out to stop him.
While the fight scenes between characters could use some work, this movie elegantly carries one through the plotline to it’s ultimate resolve. Cameos from Ryan Reynolds and Kevin Hart add extra excitement to this adrenaline inducing movie.
Casual moviegoers and “Fast and Furious” fans alike can find “Hobbs & Shaw” to be an excellent source of comedy and entertainment. This movie rates a five out of five stars.
