There’s a first time for everything. Beatrice Rovea discovered that when she had her first thanksgiving dinner with the Picciurro family.

“We traveled down to Texas because my parents and brother live there,” Host Mom, Holly Picciurro said. “It was all new to her, but we had your typical thanksgiving dinner.”

Rovea is scheduled to stay at the Picciurro house for 10 months. The family Rovea’s staying with consists of Mr. and Mrs. Picciurro and children at the age of two, six and five.

“I feel bad for her since she’s hanging out with a five, six, and two year old all the time, but she’s enjoyed it,” Picciurro said.

Rovea is the first foreign exchange student the Picciurro’s signed up for. The family, while readjusting to a high school schedule, formed an instant connection with Rovea.

“When she first got here, she barely spoke any english at all,” Picciurro said. “Now she fits right in.”
