Varsity football makes it to playoffs
They put in their blood, sweat and tears during practice and their games, getting the varsity football team to their fall playoffs.
“I’m really excited for this season because we didn’t make playoffs last year and I really want to show we can do,” senior Kyle Dedenbach said.
Their season started mid-September and just ended October 24. In that time they won six out of nine of their games, which got them into playoffs. They worked hard and stayed focused through intensive practices, according to Dedenbach. They have practice for two hours a day, four days a week (Monday-Thursday), play their games on Fridays and then wrap up the wee by watching film of their previous game on Sunday
“Everyone on the team really wanted to see ourselves make it to playoffs and I think that is what kept everyone motivated and is what got us here,” junior Montrashe Young said.
Playoffs started October 20 and end around Thanksgiving in late November. The playoffs consist of several rounds. If they loose one game they are out and no longer in the run for state championships. This will be in December and consists of the last two teams going head to head for the state trophy.
“As a team we have given our all,” Dedenback said. “I think if we remember what all our hard work had been for we will get far.”
