Majority of high school students graduate with a plan for a career without fully understanding what the career entails.
“The Law Enforcement class is beneficial for the world we live in today. The world needs more law enforcement,” junior Brody McLean said.
Enrolled In the new law enforcement elective, McLean states classes like law enforcement and other career-based electives are important when it comes to thinking about potential career choices.
“Utica Community Schools should include more practical, career-based electives in the curriculum for students to see potential career paths,” McLean said
These electives provide experiences for students. Guest speakers come speak in these classes, giving students a chance to talk and ask questions about professions. Career Technological Education (CTE) classes are great ways to get insight on a field before taking college classes.
