Sophomore Louise Cioban plans for midterm exams:

Q: Are midterm exams usually a big stress for you?

Midterm exams are a really big stress for me when it comes to school. They’re a big stress because they can make or break your grade for semester one or two. Also, exams make up a big part when finalizing your grade point average.

Q: Do you believe that midterms at a high school environment are different then ones at a middle school level?

The exams are different at a high school environment because exams can be worth more of a percent when it comes to semester grades— unlike middle school where quarter one and two exams are all closely related.

Q: What are you planning to do to prepare for exams?

To prepare, I plan on studying each night leading up to exam day, making flashcards, reviewing past worksheets and doing midterm study guides that are assigned.

Q: Why do you think students are so stressed about midterms?

Students are stressed because, like me, [they] believe that exams are really important when it comes to determining semester grades. Students often underestimate their knowledge and what they know. So I believe that someone’s opinion adds to the stress.

Q: What is more of a stress, midterms or finals?

I think finals are because it’s the end of the year and once they’re in, you can’t change the outcome or go talk to your teacher. After those exam days, summer is here and we are officially  on break.
